Yosemite Sam & The 2022 School Board Election
In the Rye City School District school board election on Tuesday, 41 absentee ballots were cast for 31 distinct candidates – both real and fictional. Past board members and board candidates such as Bob Zahm, Bozidar Jovanovic, Laura Labriola and Steve Feeney received votes.
Apparently a few voters think fictional characters might be qualified to help manage a $99 million dollar budget. Perennial favorites Mr. and Mrs. Met received votes, as well as Mickey Mouse, Peter Rabbit and Yosemite Sam (whose name was misspelled).
