Driver Assaulted in Playland Parkway Area Road Rage Incident
Rye PD arrested a woman on assault and other charges in a road rage incident in the Playland Parkway area this past Tuesday. The victim stated to Rye Police the incident started on I-95 when Lashanay Bellamy, 36, of Stamford, Connecticut believed she had been cut off by the victim while the two were traveling southbound. The victim told police that she exited onto the Playland Parkway, in an attempt to get away from Bellamy.
While she was at a stop sign, the victim stated Bellamy threw a brush at her vehicle damaging her driver’s side mirror. Bellamy then reportedly struck the victim in the face three times with a closed fist as she sat in her vehicle.
Police say the victim sustained cuts under her nose and on her upper lip but refused medical attention on scene. Bellamy was arrested and charged with third-degree Assault, fourth-degree Criminal Mischief, and third-degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation. Bellamy was issued an Order of Protection and released with a June 14th Court date.
The Rye PD reminds readers all booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant(s) are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Question: How was she able to be punched in the face…unless she got out of the car to engage the accused? Sounds like they were both in the wrong.
