Rye City “Conned” Update, Saturday Morning
Rye City Conned Update, Saturday morning:
Con Edison reports that there are approximately 370 outages in the City of Rye, or 6% of its customers, as of November 9th. Oakland Beach Avenue is closed east of Milton Road due to a low hanging high voltage wire. Because repair of that wire will be a labor-intensive operation, it has been deferred so that resources can be devoted to the residential restoration effort. All other roads are open.

Approximately 70 homes in the City remain without power due to damage on the service line between the street and the home or beyond the point where the service line connects to the home. Con Edison is continuing to work on restoring service line outages, however it is possible that if equipment is damaged on your property beyond the point of service from Con Edison (i.e. service line connection to the home), crews will not be able to reconnect your service until repairs are made by a licensed electrician.
Con Edison advises each property owner to contact a licensed electrician if there is “clear and obvious damage” on your property beyond the point of service, or you suspect damage, so that this can be repaired and Con Edison can reconnect your service line as soon as possible. Licensed electricians should contact Con Edison directly after making repairs. In most cases, where there is no customer equipment damage Con Edison will reconnect your service line as soon as possible.
A Multi-Purpose Hurricane Sandy Recovery Center has been opened at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. Beginning Friday, the Recovery Center will operate from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., seven days a week, until further notice. Con Edison representatives will be available at the Center to answer customers’ questions about individual outages and restoration progress. The City’s overnight shelter and Warming Center have been closed as of 9:00 P.M. Friday.
