Manursing Gets Pickled
The Manursing Island Club will undergo campus-wide renovations to update its facilities and improve services for its membership, including the installation of four pickle ball courts. The club has operated since 1912 offering tennis, swimming pool and beach facilities, and a children’s summer camp.
At 1 South Mansursing Island Road on the Long Island Sound, the club applied to the City of Rye for approval to make a number of changes to upgrade its amenities, which required site plan and wetland permit approvals from the Rye Planning Commission, as well as several variances from the Board of Appeals.
Law firm McCullough, Goldberger & Staudt LLP, and its Partner Steve Wrabel, represented the club before the Rye Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. The firm recently represented The Osborn and owners of the old Avon property in high profile zoning cases.
Under the approved application, the club can make the following changes:
- Reconfigure outdoor bar and lifeguard/first aid station
- Create new ADA compliant bathrooms/changing rooms
- Add four pickle ball courts
- Add a warming hut and expand its viewing deck
- Upgrade children’s camp and seasonal staff housing
- Add new storm water facilities to improve water treatment and protect the Long Island Sound
- Improve ADA accessibility to pool bar, changing rooms and camp building
Tom Cherniavsky, general manager of the the Manursing Island Club, said he was grateful to McCullough, Goldberger & Staudt for guiding the application to a successful conclusion. “Thanks to the expert handling by Steve Wrabel and McCullough, Goldberger & Staudt, the Manursing Island Club can proceed with these renovations so we can continue to provide top tier services to our members and ensure this campus remains a special place in Rye.’’
