Zeppie Retires As Osborn Principal
Principal Clarita Zeppie is retiring from the Osborn Elementary School in Rye. Her announcement follows:
Dear Parents,
After much agonizing and soul-searching, I have submitted my retirement letter to Dr. Shine effective June 30, 2012. We will have plenty of time to talk and plan for next year, and I am certain that the district will work hard to find an excellent principal for the Osborn School. I will do all that I can to assist in the transition, and I will be available should you need my help.
Sincerely,
Clarita Zeppie
You are a trailblazer Ms. Zeppie! You are standing up for what is right for our children and I wish all principals had your courage. I wish you could teach this to our newest principal here in Rye. There is much more to life than APs and test scores. What about mental health and well-being? What about downtime? What about family time?
So Osborn is going to get a new principal, but it seems that the BoE has decided to change standard practices and NOT include anyone from the community on the evaluation and recommendation committee. At least, nothing has been publicly announced about doing so. Everyone “down” with that? Exclude the PTO / parents / and teachers from providing input and evaluation of candidates as was done previously for all principals ditto Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum.
Dear Ms. Zeppie, I congratulate you but would very much appreciate a private discussion of the reasons for your early departure. My email is [email protected] and I am in the phone book
