Girls Varsity Softball Receives Bear Hug from Brewster
Rye Girls Varsity Softball received a bear hug from Brewster, falling 6-7 after Brewster dropped a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning.
“In our first game of the season, we lost on a walk-off single in the bottom of the 7th inning,” said Rye Girls Varsity Softball Coach Alex Tejera. “Trailing 6 to 3 going into the top of the 7th, we rallied and tied the game. Millie Brooks lead off the inning with a base hit, Dylan Deertz then grounded into a fielder’s choice, and then Ashley Kessner delivered a two run homerun, her fourth hit of the game, to make the score 7 to 6. Penelope Gilmore than singled with 2 outs, reached 2nd on a wild pitch, and then scored on a pinch hit single by Zoe Lien, to tie the game. Unfortunately, Brewster rallied in the bottom of the inning and scored a run to win the game.”
