Upcoming Rye Historical Society Summer Walking Tour

The start of summer is right around the corner, and Rye Historical Society is celebrating the warmer weather by offering a guided coastal community walking tour on Tuesday, June 13.

Rye history expert Joie Cooney will lead residents from the Knapp House to several other landmarks in Rye’s coastal neighborhoods. The tour will shed light on the rich history of Rye’s original inhabitants and communities.

There will be stops at Milton Cemetery, the Bird Sanctuary and Meeting House, Rye Town Park, and Playland, among other places. Residents will discover the ways in which Rye’s summer landscape has developed and transformed over time — for years, Rye was a vacation destination for many, with inns and hotels along the Long Island Sound.

Tickets for the tour are $25 per person or $60 per family (up to 5 people) and can be purchased here.
