Concert Series at Rye Town Park Announced

Rye Town Park and the Friends of Rye Town Park are sponsoring a series of seven free concerts at the south pavilion of Rye Town Park during the summer of 2011. The concerts feature the music of Westchester-area based bands, playing a wide range of popular music ideal for singing and/or dancing along.

The concerts will be held on Tuesdays starting on June 28th.  Two dates have been set aside in case of thunderstorms.  Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. and end at about 9 p.m.  Admission to the concerts is free, and parking is $2 at the park after 5 p.m.

Some seating will be available, but people are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets.  The concerts will be held rain or shine, except in the case of thunderstorms.  Picnicking is welcome, and dining or take-out is available at the nearby Seaside Johnnie’s restaurant.

Here’s the lineup:

June 28th – Caribbean Sun Kings – popular music done Caribbean style. Well known Reggae, Soca, and Calypso songs combined with “tropically spiced” popular music. The band of seasoned entertainers features steel pan, guitar, keyboards, bass, and drums.
