RYE GARNETS HOST NANUET GOLDEN KNIGHTS – THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 @ 6:30PM @ NUGENT STADIUM
This week the Garnets host the NANUET GOLDEN KNIGHTS from across the Hudson in an unusual Thursday night contest scheduled around religious observances. Rye will be jousting in mortal combat in what will be the 19th skirmish dating back to 1976.
It was in the Bicentennial Year that Westchester’s Section One accepted the petition of the Rockland County High Schools athletic programs to join the Westchester leagues from mid-Hudson Section Nine. Since that time, the Black and Gold rank second to Nyack as Rye’s most frequently played Rockland County foe. Are the’23 Garnets armed to stretch their slim upper hand in these hostilities as the war score now stands at 10-8-0 (.556)?
Rye-Nanuet games are characterized by predictably medieval, fierce line play and armor-tight defenses. Traditionally low scoring combats, this bash should be no exception. Night will come early for these Knights as the Garnets:
