Girls Varsity Tennis Traps the Huskies
Rye Girls Varsity Tennis trapped the Huskies on Thursday with a 4 – 3 win at Harrison.
“With all of the players watching and the team match in the balance, #1 singles Junior Sasha Sherman hung on to win in a 3rd set Supertiebreaker 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, 11-9 against one of the strongest players in our league,” said Rye Girls Varsity Tennis Coach Tony Campbell. “It was a thrilling end to a great afternoon of tennis, and likely the best Sasha has ever played.”
Rye swept the singles with freshmen Alex DiMeo (6-1, 6-4) and sophomore Lana Andikyan (7-5, 6-2) both winning in straight sets. Senior co-captains Taylor Gori and Hannah Cali were the lone doubles win (6-4, 6-1).
The team is now 3 – 1. They travel to Suffern Friday afternoon for a 4:45pm match.
