Permits and Funding in Place for Bowman Sluice Gate
Rye Flood Action Committee (RFAC) passed the word from the Rye city manager that the permits and funding for the Bowman Avenue sluice gate project are in place.
The $2.2 million dollar project was identified in the wake of the disastrous 2007 Rye floods when Rye was declared a FEMA disaster zone. The project will retrofit the existing Bowman Avenue spillway with an automated sluice to reduce flood elevations on Blind Brook for major storm events. Properties between
the Bowman Avenue Spillway and I-95 would benefit from the project.
Next up Rye city will work on a bid and construction schedule.
