Boys Varsity Hockey Pitchforked by the Devils

Rye Boys Varsity Hockey was pitchforked by the upstate D1 power Clarence Red Devils during their season opener on Saturday. The Devils scorched the Garnets 6 – 4.

“We got into penalty trouble early and had to dig ourselves out of a hole,” said Rye Boys Varsity Hockey Coach Peter Thomas. “We showed a lot of heart battling back in this game and it could have gone either way.”

Game highlights included:

  • Rye scoring: Trevor Dolan (1st varsity goal) assisted by Nick Doyle (1st varsity point)
  • Ryan Draddy (1st varsity goal) assisted by Jamie Showers and Henry Bagley
  • Dean Kim assisted by Nick Doyle and Seth Dorfman
  • Brandon Morgan made 24 saves on 30 shots and Owen Fitzgibbons made 4 saves on 4 shots in relief

The team is now 0 – 1. The Garnets travel to Clarkstown North/South Coop for a game Wednesday at 6:15pm.
