Ethan’s NY Sports Journal: Edwards of Jets arrested for DUI
Penned by Rye resident, Osborn Elementary graduate and incoming
sixth grader Ethan Sears, Ethan's NY Sports
Journal column will report on and analyze New
York metro sports teams. Today Sears tells us about the loudmouth Jets and the lame punishment for receiver Edwards.
Sears is a two
time attendee of Sports
Broadcasting Camps.
Early Tuesday morning the Jets number one receiver Braylon Edwards was arrested on a drunken driving charge. Edwards failed to use the Player Protect service provided by the Jets that provides a 24/7 car service in order to avoid drunk driving. Edwards was arrested for driving while intoxicated after officers pulled him over because his SUV had excessive tinting on its windows.
Edwards was given a breath test at the scene and another at the police station. His blood alcohol level was .16 – over twice the legal limit. Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum said “We are very disappointed in Braylon’s actions this morning. The Player Protect program is in place for our organization to prevent this situation. Braylon is aware of this program and showed poor judgment.”
Edwards only punishment will be that he is not starting Sunday. Any other person would be in jail right now for DUI but all Edward’s punishment is that he is not starting. Not even a one game suspension from Roger Goodell.
Even with Edwards not starting and Darrelle Revis injured, the Jets still probably expect to win against a 2-0 Miami Dolphins team that just beat the Minnesota Vikings. Expect a close but no cigar game from the loudmouth Jets.
