6-12 Foreign Language

After two years of gathering information and perspective on the 6-12 foreign language program, the Board approved two recommendations that will broaden student options at the Rye Middle School and Rye High School starting in September 2010:  middle school students will have the option to take a second language, and both middle school and high school students will be able to study Mandarin.

Students and parents who want more information should attend the grade 5 to 6 transition meeting in February and/or discuss options with middle school guidance counselors.  The transition meeting for grade 8 to 9 took place last week.  Anyone who missed it should discuss foreign language options with the high school guidance counselors.
