Rye Off The Record: Meter Arrest, Save $905K & More

College is fun until you get busted trying to steal a parking meter. Rye resident and Princeton student Turner Smith (Class of 2013) was busted with three pals and charged with criminal attempted theft, criminal mischief and resisting arrest by flight after they lifted a parking meter at the college.

From The Daily Princetonian: "Borough Police reported  that officers caught the four students trying to remove a meter and its mounting pole, worth an estimated $658, from just outside Ivy Club at 1:08 a.m. When the police arrived, the four 18-year-olds scattered… Following a brief foot chase, Smith was arrested by Patrolman Daniel Federico in Lot 26…" Time on that meter ran out…

Linda Darer over at Sotheby's reminded MyRye.com about a price reduction at 152 Stuyvesant Avenue, her listing that was featured on MyRye.com Cribs. Now you can slum it on Milton Point for only $5,995,000, a $905,000 reduction you can use to fill-up that huge wine cellar.

Rye cop Lou Oliver was mentioned in a Police magazine article on "How You Can Become a Better Cop Right Now": "Sgt. Lou Olivier with the Rye (N.Y.) Police Department has saved four lives during his career. Knowing that gives him a constant sense of accomplishment, and a drive to keep going and improve his ability to do his job: There may always be a fifth."
