Mexican Food Find in New Rochelle
Too often Mexican food is too heavy and too routine. That’s why we were pleased to find the Little Mexican Cafe at 581 Main Street in downtown New Rochelle.
The inside is bright and clean with orange and yellow walls and bright red table cloths. The menu has inventive, authentic cuisine as well as the standard kid-friendly fare.
This is not a fancy night out or date place, but a great meal before a movie a New Roc or a family friendly joint where you are comfortable with your kids and don’t have to compromise on the quality of the food or pay out the nose.

Zagats gives the place a 23 rating for food and says:
"“Authentic flavors of Mexico” including “guacamole, margaritas” and tacos al pastor (with chile-rubbed, spit roasted pork) have made this “cheap” New Rochelle cafe “with a big heart” a favorite; “kind service” awaits in either of the two seating sections – one for full-service dining and the other for watching satellite TV and eating at the bar."
