Girls Varsity Soccer Triumph Against Harrison

Rye Girls Varsity Soccer triumphed in a tough bout against league opponent Harrison today, September 26. After a scoreless first half, the Rye players came together and won 5–0. 

This victory brings Rye to 9 wins, 0 losses, and 1 tie, and the United Soccer Association has just ranked Rye Girls Varsity Soccer #10 in the country.

Highlights from the game:

  • Opening in the second half, freshman and birthday girl Hannah Jachman scored the first goal off an assist from Bowyn Brown
  • Ten minutes later, Ava Cross played a perfect ball to Jill DeSanto who placed the ball into the back of the net. 
  • Claire Nemsick came up from defense and jumped over a defender to head the ball in off a cross from Iciar Garate
  • Claire Curran would put away Rye’s final goal, off an assist from Joy DeSanto
  • Tessa Labovitz had 5 saves for the shutout.
