The Rye Varsity Field Hockey team wasted no time dismantling Henry Hudson on Satuday evening, scoring three times in the first quarter and seven times overall to complete their biggest offensive outburst of the season to date. The Garnets’ 7-0 win is also their largest margin of victory of the fall, and it came in league play over the weekend. All the goals were scored in the first half

It was a “huge team win for the Garnets,”  Assistant Coach Theresa Jelalain told MyRye.com after the game. “All the girls came together, played tough, and everyone contributed to this victory.”

Rye scored twice on set pieces from corners, and around the net on their other five. Two of their tallies came on clever deflections on waist-high balls, as Rye showed its offensive versatility, scoring in all different ways.

The Garnets (7-4) are now halfway through league play and will match up against familiar opponents the rest of the way. Their next bout is home against John Jay-Cross River on Wednesday, October 9. Game time is scheduled for 5:00pm at Nugent Stadium. Watch it here. Watch the win vs Hen Hud here.
