Girls Soccer Clinches League Title with 4-0 Dominance vs Harrison
Four different players scored for the Rye Girls Varsity Soccer Team on Wednesday evening, as the Garnets took down league rival Harrison 4-0. The team is still undefeated in 2024 after the convincing win.
“Rye came out strong and pressed Harrison early in the game,” Head Coach Rich Savage told MyRye.com after the game. “Rye’s defensive play of Claire Nemsick, Reese Lejuez, Ava Cross and Ali Koford was solid, keeping the Huskies off the scoreboard.”
In front of the back line, the Garnets’ deep offense went to work. Charlotte Keenan opened up the scoring just 3 minutes in the game with an outstanding left-footed shot, with Shira Rand recording an assist. Just five minutes later, Hannah Jachman headed the ball in the back of the net to double the lead. Parker Calhoun added a third first-half goal off a feed from Lyla Keenan. Alessia McKinnon put the cherry on top with Rye’s final goal – Mary Sack picked up an assist on the play. Tessa Labowitz was in the net with 5 saves and the shutout.
Rye (12-0-1) takes their incredible record into their penultimate regular season game of 2024. They travel to Arlington on Friday, October 18, to take on the AAA powerhouse Admirals. The game is scheduled for 4:30pm – watch it here. Watch the win against Harrison here.
