After two straight years of disappointment, the Rye Garnets Football team finally turned the tides back in their favor against Harrison in 2024, defeating the Huskies 24-0 on Saturday afternoon. Rye scored three times on the ground and shut down Harrison’s offense entirely to come away with the shutout victory, their third shutout of the season.

Chris Iuliano returned to the lineup with a bang, scoring two touchdowns on the ground. He ceded some touches to Ty Ramachandran, who also found the end zone in the fourth quarter to add to the Garnets’ lead.

”[Iuliano] is the ultimate leader and Garnet in every aspect,” Head Coach Dino Garr said of his star running back, whose value exceeds the12 points he added to the scoreboard. Having such a talent and sideline presence fully healthy was a huge boost for Rye.

This was the 97th all-time matchup between Rye and Harrison, with this being the Garnets’ 50th win in series history. It’s also the first by a Miller – Steve Miller and son AJ Miller both lost twice to Harrison as starting QBs, leaving Carson to try to break the curse. He was not asked to do much, but did his job to secure the win.

Rye (8-0, 6-0) has not lost since Week 4 of 2023. They will look to keep that going in the Class A playoffs, where they are the confirmed one seed. The Garnets will host every playoff game in their sectional tournament until they either win it or get upset.
