Greto, Kennedy Lead Girls Basketball to Third Consecutive Victory
The Rye Girls Basketball Team improved to a perfect 3-0 on Friday evening, holding on to defeat the Hendrick Hudson Sailors 65-54. Phoebe Greto and Molly Kennedy led the charge for Rye, who saw a 16-point lead shrink to six, but held firm down the stretch to pull out the win.
“We had a great win tonight vs Hen Hud 65-54 to move to 3-0,” Head Coach Margo Hackett told MyRye.com. “I’m very proud of how we’ve started the year!”
Greto led the Garnets with 24 points, a new season high by any player on the team, followed closely behind by Molly Kennedy with 23. Those two combined for over 72% of Rye’s 65 points. Paige Tepedino provided solid depth scoring with 12 points as well to round out the Garnets’ double-digit performers.
Rye (3-0) gets the weekend off before their next tilt, as they head to Lakeland for their second away game of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 on Tuesday, December 17. Watch that game here. Watch the win vs the Sailors here.
