An employee of a local firm was arrested for lewdness after being seen masturbating while traveling in a vehicle along Interstate 684.
On Tuesday, May 20,2025, at approximately 8:50am, New York State Police Troopers and Investigators assigned to the Somers Barracks responded to a “Be on the Lookout” (BOLO) alert regarding a vehicle of interest on I-684. The vehicle was connected to an ongoing Somers Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) public lewdness investigation.

In a coordinated effort, Troopers and Investigators from SP Somers, the Rye Police Department, and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force located the suspect vehicle traveling southbound on I-684 near mile marker 0.5 in the Town of Harrison. A traffic stop was initiated without incident.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as Jose M. Reyes-Marquez, 55, of Newburgh, New York. Reyes-Marquez works at the New York Blood Center (NYBC), where he is a lead quality auditor. The non-profit NYBC blood collection and distribution group recently occupied the old Avon property on Midland Avenue. Reyes-Marquez had previously been observed engaging in lewd conduct visible to passing motorists on multiple occasions while traveling on I-684.
He was charged with two counts of Public Lewdness, a Class B misdemeanor. Reyes-Marquez was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Bedford Court on June 11, 2025, at 3:30pm. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
