The Rye Hockey team dropped a statement on Friday, January 30, smashing Mamaroneck 10-3. The Garnets have now won two straight games against a Tigers mascot by a combined score of 17-4.

“We got off to another good start, driving play and getting on the board first,” Head Coach Pete Thomas said after the victory. “Every line contributed which is nice to see.”

As Rye set a new season high in goals, somehow Colin Nigro did not. The sophomore forward potted five on the night, his second five-goal game of the season. He also added an assist on a goal from Cody Greenhaw for a six point outing.

Jamie Morris stayed hot with two goals, his seventh straight game with a tally and fourth straight with multiple goals. He has scored twelve times in that stretch.

Greenhaw, Max Niejadlik, and Finn Draddy all populated the scoresheet with multiple points apiece. Interestingly, Rye’s fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth goals all featured some ocmbination of points from Greenhaw, Draddy, and Nigro, but no one else. One might argue that forward line had a good game.

Rye (11-2-3) will look for their third consecutive win on Wednesday, February 4, when they host Suffern at 7:00pm at Playland. The Garnets topped the Mounties at home last year for their first win against the northern rivals since the turn of the century and have a chance to make it two years in a row on Wednesday.
