The Rye Girls Golf team rose to the occasion for a season-best performance against Pelham on Monday, May 11, winning 227-258. The Garnets are rolling heading into the postseason, having secured an undefeated league slate and second straight title.

“Rye had its best performance of the season against Pelham today, finishing with a season-low score of 227,” Head Coach Rich Savage told MyRye.com after the win. “Leila Kurbusi led the Garnets with an outstanding round of 38, while senior captain Phoebe Lee added a strong 46.”

Throughout the year, Kurbusi and Lee have been consistently exceptional. The whole starting lineup has been relatively constant throughout the year, leading to a perfect record in league play. The Garnets have been trending up since the start of the year.

“With this impressive performance, Rye hopes to carry its momentum into the Sectional Championship match next Monday,” Savage continued.

That contest, an 18-hole competition at the Links at Union Vale in New York, is set for May 18.
