The Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck Girls Swim and Dive team returned to action on Friday, September 18, promptly picking up from where they left off in 2025 with a 102-84 win. RBBRN is coming off a 7-1 record last year, and they have a talented roster and friendly schedule as they look to find great success once again.
“The Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck swim and dive team is looking forward to another great fall sports season,” eighth-year head coach Katie Konopka said before the season began. “We have many returning athletes and have added a few new strong swimmers to the team.”
RBBRN will be led by seniors Jessica Lafferty, Ronia Mohassel, Rory O’Byrne, and Katie Weidinger. Combined with a sect of underclassmen rich with talent and even some experience, RBBRN has a chance to win every meet.
The team has eight meets, including their season-opening win and their senior day competition to close the team portion of the campaign on October 23. Six of Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck’s eight contests are at home at the Hommocks pool in Mamaroneck.
“The team [was] looking forward to our first home meet of the fall 2026 season against Byram Hills-Briarcliff-Pleasantville-Valhalla-Westlake,” Konopka told MyRye.com. “Additionally, we are looking forward to hosting our Pink Out meet on October 2nd against John Jay Cross River-North Salem at Hommocks Pool.”
RBBRN started strong with their 18-point victory over BBPVW and will look to improve to 2-0 this coming Friday, September 25, as they host Mahopac-Carmel. After a road meet, the team comes right back home for a season-long three-meet homestand, including the pink out meet at the beginning of October.
“As a team we are working towards achieving as many best times and dive scores as possible this season,” Konopka continued. “The team would like to get as many swimmers and divers to qualify for the sectional and state championship meets at the end of the season.”
