The Rye Field Hockey team dropped their first road contest of the 2026 season on Tuesday, September 8, as they fell to Mamaroneck 6-0. The Garnets battled it out against a Tigers team that is widely expected to dominate many of their opponents and earned the nickname “terminators with a search and destroy mentality” from a play-by-play broadcaster in a recently semi-viral internet clip.

“Tessa Zicari had a lot of great saves this evening,” head coach Valeria Montano told MyRye.com. “Liv Prata was a workhorse and was all over the field. She made great defensive stops in the midfield and helped spark our offense.”

Zicari’s best save came with the score 1-0 in the first quarter, as she lifted her stick to rob a Tiger from point blank range. She continued to stick it out all night despite facing constant pressure.

Rye (1-1) will look to get back on track on Thursday, September 10, against John Jay-Cross River. The away contest against the Wolves begins at 4:30pm. Replay the recent Mamaroneck game here.
