Friends and family are mourning the loss of the remarkable Linda Anechiarico (nee Sassano), who died on September 12, 2026. She was one month shy of age 104 and was much beloved.
Linda was born on October 20, 1922, in Mt. Vernon, N.Y. She was the second of five children of Pasquale (Patsy) and Lucia (Lucy) Sassano. She worked in New York City before marrying her high school sweetheart, Carmine John (Mike) Anechiarico, in November 1947. Together they raised five children, first in Mt. Vernon and then in Rye, N.Y. They traveled widely and enjoyed the company of a large circle of family and friends.
Linda, who was voted as “best smile” in high school, was a gracious host, a lively conversationalist, and a devoted wife and mother. She was also an accomplished artist, an expert knitter, and could tackle any sewing project large or small. When her children were older, she worked in sales for Harris Publishing Company, winning many awards for her accomplishments.
Widowed in 2009, Linda found comfort in her faith and her ever-growing family, which eventually expanded to 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She had an astounding memory up to her very last day. Her special qualities, including wisdom, sense of humor, and her ability to live in the moment, were admired and emulated. When asked what her secret was to such a long and happy life, Linda advised, “Don’t carry things. Learn to let them go.”
Linda is survived by her children: Frank, Barry (Cyrisse Jaffee), Michael (Kathie), Judy Martin (Dan), David; her grandchildren: John Anechiarico, Ashley Anechiarico, Christopher Martin, Jonathan Jaffee, Kevin Martin, Carly Andreoli, Eric Anechiarico, Gregory Martin, Julia Anechiarico; her great-grandchildren: Angelo, Isaac, Ivan, Andres, Alfonso, Simone, Joshua, Emilia, Sophie, Ada, Elise, Olivia, Rhea, Rome, and Lee; and great-great grandson Mason.
Calling hours will be at the Graham Funeral Home (1036 Boston Post Road, Rye) from 10-11:30am on September 19. A funeral mass will follow at 12:00pm at the Church of the Resurrection (910 Boston Post Road, Rye). In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to POTS (Part of the Solution).
