The Rye Field Hockey team easily picked up their second straight win on Friday, September 25, as they defeated Pelham 5-1. The Garnets have completely shaken off their slow start with 14 goals over their past two games, both of which have come against league opponents.
“Liv Prata scored the first goal less than 3 minutes into the game,” head coach Valerie Montano told MyRye.com. “We’ve been working on capitalizing on our offense corners and Robyn Wilmont had a great ball to goal that Liv was able to tip in.”
Prata added two assists later in the game to complete another exceptional offensive performance. Wilmont also assisted on a second goal for a multi-point game. Kaitlyn Coyne, Amelia Buckley, Cate Puzzuoli, and Caroline Kmetz all scored, as Rye had five different goal scorers. Kmetz’s goal was her first at the varsity level in her career.
Rye (3-3, 2-0 league) hosts Harrison in their next contest on Tuesday, September 29. The contest begins under the lights of Nugent Stadium at 6:30pm.
