The Rye Field Hockey team continued their torrent offensive pace on Thursday, October 1, as they shellacked Harrison 6-1 at Nugent Stadium. The Garnets scored within the first 90 seconds of play and never looked back for their fourth consecutive comfortable victory.

“We did a great job starting the game strong, and really found our rhythm in the second quarter,” head coach Valerie Montano told MyRye.com. “Liv Prata used her speed well on the right side and was able to send a great centering pass to Kaitlyn Coyne. Kaitlyn was ready and able to finish the play.”

Coyne’s goal at 1:25 elapsed time delivered Rye a lead they would never relinquish. She finished the night with a hat trick. Dylan Ehrlich scored and added two assists, Cate Puzzuoli scored one goal and one assist, and Izzy Thomas potted a goal. The Garnets led 3-0 at halftime and controlled play all throughout the nighttime contest.

“Puzzuoli also had a great game, helping us generate offense opportunities and scored as well,” Montano said.

Rye (5-3) will take a four-game winning streak and a +23 goal differential in that span into their next game on Saturday, October 3. The Garnets host Ursuline at 2:00pm.
