Updated Monday, 8:30pm:
Suzanne Clary, president of Jay Heritage Center, told MyRye.com Monday evening "A brush fire broke out at Marshlands just before 4pm today. The fire while still burning is under control and on the shoreline. Thankfully because the meadow was mowed, trucks can get through to the scene and helicopters are also dropping water. Despite strong winds, the fire department assured me that the mansion and adjacent buildings are safe from airborne sparks. The park is closed until further notice. County police would like people to stay clear of the site for safety."
