Clay Virtual Youth Class: Character Maracas (Ages 7+)

Beginner’s Welcome!
Looking for something creative for your kids to do from the comfort of your home. Have them unplug with mud with Clay Art Center’s one-hour virtual clay classes for ages 7 to teen via Zoom. Their instructors will guide your child through a fun instructional clay project that they will create from supplies that are available at Clay Art Center (Port Chester, NY) curbside pick-up or through Amazon or Michael’s curbside pick-up.
These Maracas or shakers are not only fun to make but also become instruments for students to make music and sound with. We will discuss sound and how different objects make different sounds. Students will make clay balls to shake around inside the maraca as well as be encouraged to explore their homes for other materials that make noise. Some examples include, loose change, popcorn kernels, rice, beans… Students will be encourages to create a character that already exists, from a tv show, or video game, or they can come up with their own invented character.
