Coding Camp Grades 3-5: Code Your Hero

July 16, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

.DO BEFORE CLASS! For today’s Coding Camp session, you will be learning how to code a hero story or game. You will choose an everyday hero from your life, then build your project using code that shows your hero as a Superhero! You can choose a parent, teacher, pet, or anybody in your life who inspires you or makes a difference in your life! You’ll watch the intro video, then follow the instructions to create your own Superhero. This activity uses Scratch, a programming language that uses “blocks” to build code.Work on your heroes independently from home. When we get together in our Zoom session, we will share our Heroes with each other and answer any questions. **Attending this event will earn you points in our Summer Reading Program!** This is part of a 6 week Coding Camp we will be offering at the library. No prior knowledge or experience with coding is required. Attendees are not obligated to attend all 6 sessions, please sign up for each week separately. This program has been developed for children entering grades 3-5 in September 2020. Register with an email you check regularly to receive the Zoom link and important information to prepare you for the class! Coding Camp activites have been cultivated with resources from Hour of Code. The ‘Hour of Code™’ is a nationwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming.
