Golf: How Westchester County Provided A Launching Pad For The Sport

Golf first gained popularity in the United States during the Gilded Age, with Westchester County becoming home to one of the nation’s first golf clubs. The popularity of golf skyrocketed with the advent of live television and the charisma of golf’s first superstar, Arnold Palmer. Palmer’s charm and talent helped him become a worldwide celebrity and he mastered using his celebrity to lift the popularity of golf to new heights, making golf the tremendously popular sport it is today. Program leader: Evan WeinerEvan Weiner is an award winning journalist and recognized global expert of the “Politics of Sports Business”. He has a daily video podcast called The Politics of Sports Business. In the United States, he has been a radio commentator, TV pundit on MSNBC, NewsMax and ABC.  He is also an author of nine books and is a frequent college speaker.Evan won the 2010 Ronald Reagan Media Award from the United States Sports Academy.
