Like the Summer Sun : The Bard meets the Beatles

.LawnChair Theatre’s 2020 summer production is “Like The Summer Sun: The Bard Meets the Beatles”, a carefully curated collection of the very best of the British Invasion, pairing songs by the Fab Four with sonnets and scenes from the English language’s most enduring playwright.”Like the Summer Sun: The Bard Meets the Beatles,” will play LIVE at different Westchester locations this year — the Rye Reading Room lawn, Crawford Park in Rye Brook, and the Bedford Playhouse lawn. Now in it’s 14th season in Westchester, LawnChair Theatre’s usual offering is a light Shakespeare comedy, but this year they’re shaking it up by mixing Beatles music with Shakespeare sonnets and segments. All outside, all socially responsible. Actors and singers will be distanced from the audience and masked when they are not on stage; distanced audience spaces will be clearly indicated.It’s an incredibly high quality show, led by creator and director Peter Green with professional musical director Keith Levenson, whose day job (interrupted by COVID) is musical director of The Who’s global tour; along with Jason Robert Brown’s Broadway Cabaret House band, plus 17 local Pro-Am singers and actors.
