6/20/21 Dear RMS 8th Grade Families, This is an update about our in-person Moving Up Ceremony for the 8th-grade class. Based on newly-revised guidance from the New York State Department of Health, we are able to lift some of our restrictions for the 8th Grade Moving Up ceremony next Friday, June 25; there is no rain date. The event will also be live-streamed using the LocalLive network (https://events.locallive.tv/events/55456). The ceremony, which should last no longer than one hour, will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. Please allow for enough time to locate your seats (separated by each eighth-grade team) before the ceremony begins. We ask that you sit behind your child’s team section. We will cluster three chairs together in the team visitors section for each family. If you choose to bring more than three people to the ceremony, bring a portable chair or be prepared to stand in a separate designated area. Please do not alter any existing seating arrangements on the back field. We encourage social distancing between each cluster of seats, and we wish to provide visibility of the Grade 8 students for all attendees. Here is some important information: Tickets are no longer needed to attend, nor do you need to complete the Google Form with your vaccination information. No testing or proof of vaccination/recovery from COVID-19 is required to attend Moving Up. Non-vaccinated attendees must still wear masks. While we will be able to accommodate more attendees, seating will still be limited. We will have an option for additional attendees to bring a chair or view the ceremony from a standing room only area. Parking is available in the snow lot on Boston Post Road across from Nugent Stadium. Seats may not be reserved. Parents may arrive no earlier than 8:30 to find seating. No food is allowed in the back field area. Shoes with any type of spiked heel may not be worn on the back field for safety purposes. There will be a designated seating section to accommodate guests with disabilities.
