RMS Orientation – All 6th Grade Students
August 31 @ 10:00 am - 11:59 pm EDT
RMS Sixth-Grade Orientation and Student Technology Workshops Dear RMS 6th-Grade Parents and Guardians: Welcome to Rye Middle School. Ms. Orlando and I look forward to welcoming your children to the sixth grade! You will be receiving another communication later this month with details about the beginning days of school, but I wanted to ensure that you know the date for the virtual sixth-grade orientation and Student Technology University: Tuesday, August 31. On August 31, we will hold a series of staggered 90-minute virtual orientations and Student Technology University workshops for incoming sixth-graders. Please see below for the link that corresponds with the session you previously selected. If you have not yet selected a session, please contact Dr. Kaitlyn Sassone (firstname.lastname@example.org) to sign up for a session or choose a time below and click on the link to join on the day of. All sessions will take place via Google Meet; due to the construction at RMS, we cannot invite students into the building yet. Grade 6 Guidance Counselor Vanessa Caine, Director of Technology Kaitlyn Sassone, Instructional Technology Staff Developer Chris Caliendo, Assistant Principal Ms. Orlando, and I will be on the Meet to welcome students, review how to read a schedule, discuss technology expectations, and answer any questions they may have about Middle School. Students who are new to the District should have received an individual communication from their guidance counselor about separate meeting times during which they will have the opportunity to meet other new students. The guidance counselors will also conduct some ice-breaking activities and communicate additional information about the start of school during those sessions. If you already have summer plans for August 31, please do not change them, but if you are available, please have your child join us for a virtual orientation and Student Technology University workshop. Please see below for the Google Meet links/meeting times. Please note that your child must log in to Google Meet using his or her RCSD Google credentials. If your child needs their Google password reset, please contact Kaitlyn Sassone: email@example.com. Student schedules will be available on the Parent Portal on August 27 at 3:00 pm. Please have your child review their schedule before attending orientation so they are prepared to ask questions if need be.
