At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a select group of leaders was called upon to guide us through this unprecedented event. Zachary “Zach” Iscol was one of them. Zach led over 40 federal, state, and city agencies as the deputy director of Joint New York Medical Station, one of the largest and only successful COVID field hospitals in the country.

Learn how this combat-decorated, former Marine officer steered New York through the pandemic, built the The Headstrong Project—a nonprofit mental healthcare provider that now cares for over 1,000 veterans a week—and the challenges he faces in his current role as Commissioner of the New York City Emergency Management Department.
