Wainwright House – Don’t Make Me Laugh: A Pelvic Floor Panel

Don’t Make Me Laugh is a conversation twenty years overdue. Guided by Fiona Jalinoos, this panel brings together three pelvic floor physiotherapists and a high-risk OB/GYN to talk honestly about one of the most consequential — and least discussed — parts of the female body. Not in hushed tones. Not in euphemism. In real, structural, useful terms.
What’s actually happening down there across pregnancy, birth, perimenopause, and beyond. What’s preventable. What’s treatable. What you should have been told years ago, by someone who actually knew.
This isn’t a symptom-management talk. It’s the conversation that should have come first.
This event is open to all ages and genders who are curious to learn, reflect, and engage. Come for the conversation, stay for the community, and leave inspired by the possibilities of midlife.

Dr. Tracy Shevell
Board-Certified High-Risk OB/GYN & Women’s Health Advocate
I’m a board-certified high-risk OB/GYN and women’s health advocate dedicated to changing the paradigm of care for women. With 25 years in academic medicine, trained at Mount Sinai and Columbia, then speding almost 20 years in hospital care in New York and Fairfield County earning multiple teaching awards, I’ve pivoted, reinvented, and devoted the second half of my career to empowering women through education and advocacy that extends beyond traditional clinical settings.
My unique perspective as both physician and patient allows me to address the real challenges women face in healthcare. I specialize in translating complex medical topics into accessible, actionable information—covering everything from evidence-based medicine to the emotional and holistic aspects of wellness. My approach combines clinical expertise with recognition of what women actually need: to feel seen, heard, and understood in medical spaces.
As a recognized voice in modern healthcare communication, I focus on providing practical tools that help women become their own best health advocates. Whether working with organizations seeking authentic medical expertise on sensitive topics or reaching women directly through innovative educational approaches, my mission remains the same: ensuring every woman has the knowledge and confidence to make informed health decisions.
I’m also the author of Labor and Deliverance, a women’s health book coming January 2027.
My “doctor best friend” approach to healthcare education has resonated with diverse audiences who appreciate credible medical expertise delivered with empathy and real-world understanding.

Maria O’Connor, PT
Pelvic Health Physical Therapist & Founder, Revive Studio and HOPP Pelvic Floor Therapy
With nearly two decades of experience in physical therapy, I began my career in 2007, specializing in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation before expanding my focus to include the pediatric population. My clinical journey took a more personal turn following my own experiences with pelvic health challenges after three vaginal childbirths and a diagnosis of lupus. These experiences inspired me to specialize in pelvic health in 2019.
I approach care through a holistic lens, recognizing the deep connection between physical, emotional, and mental health—particularly as it relates to the pelvic region and its impact on the entire body. I am committed to treating the body as an integrated system, identifying root causes, and providing individualized, hands-on care tailored to each client.
I am the founder of Revive Studio, a holistic wellness center in Larchmont, and HOPP Pelvic Floor Therapy, a pelvic health clinic dedicated to supporting both women and men. My mission is to empower clients to feel seen, validated, and ultimately live pain-free, balanced lives.
