Alison, Elvis: Open Door Rocks Thursday

ElvisCostelloandRyePeeps

Elvis Costello will be rocking Purchase College this Thursday, April 15, 2010 to benefit Open Door Family Medical Centers, including its location at 5 Grace Church Street in Port Chester. Orchestra seats are still available (buy a few).  Rye residents and Open Door board members Mary Scully of George Langeloh and Kathy Perkal of Milton Road (in the photo, above) are co-chairing the event.

Open Door does a benefit concert every year. In 2008 the group hosted the B-52s and grossed over $500,000. They hope to surpass that amount this year.

Open Door is a federally qualified community health center serving as the health care home to more than 40,000 individuals in Westchester County. Open Door’s facilities are located in designated underserved communities, serving those who are hardest to reach. Patients make over 170,000 visits annually to its sites in Ossining, Port Chester, Mt. Kisco, Sleepy Hollow and its four school- based health centers in Port Chester.

MyRye.com asked Mary Scully and Kathy Perkal why our readers should pony up and go hear Costello scream "Alison" and they gave us their top ten…Letterman-style:

TOP TEN REASONS WHY YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS SHOULD ATTEND THE ELVIS COSTELLO CONCERT ON APRIL 15:

10)  The Jonas Brothers weren't available.

9)  Thursday is the new Friday.

8)  You know you would go see him anyway…this time it's a tax deduction.

7)  “Accidents Will Happen," and that’s when Open Door may help.

6)  It is a fundraiser, that even men will enjoy.

5)  The sudden rush of adrenalin you'll get at this live concert is good for your heart.

4)  It'll make for a great Facebook posting and Twittering opportunities the next day.

3)  You were in high school in 1977, and "Alison" was your BFF.

2)  You are attracted to men with horn-rimmed glasses.

And the number one reason why you and your friends should attend the ELVIS COSTELLO concert is:

1)  The concert proceeds benefit Open Door Family Medical Centers, and Open Door cares for your community.
