Rye Newbies Get Schooled at the Jay House

French CLOSE UP - rye newcomer 009

The Rye Newcomers Club held their annual breakfast meeting at the 1838 Jay Mansion this past Thursday, October 6, 2011.

Over 45 attendees munched on pumpkin muffins and toured the landmark home of one of America's most famous public servants, John Jay. They also met current public servants, Rye Mayor Doug French and NY State Assemblyman George Latimer who spoke at length about the character and resources that make Rye a unique place to live.

Representatives from more than 10 non-profits like the Youth Council, Arts Center, Rye Rec, Junior League on the Sound, the Nature Center, Historical Society and JHC's Young Preservationists were on hand to sign up volunteers for community service.
