Second graders at Milton School enjoyed several exciting field trips this past spring, bringing their classroom lessons to life as they explored unique locations. During a visit to the New York Botanical Gardens students toured the natural environment and observed plant life. Another excursion took the children on a schooner tour of the Long Island Sound (pictured below). After sailing out of Mamroneck Harbor, students had the opportunity to haul in a trawl net and examine the ecology of the water. They utilized science knowledge to test water quality, and received a geography lesson as they learned how sailors use maps to navigate their travels.
