Keep Bikes & Dogs Out of Edith Read Sanctuary – Rye Mayor

Rye Mayor Josh Cohn is asking residents to keep bikes and dogs out of the Edith Read Wildlife Sanctuary. “Many of us are also running this resource down,” said Cohn. “The Friends of Edith Read ask us all to heed their plea to come on foot (no bikes!) and without our best friends (no dogs!). Bikes scare the wildlife and damage the trails. Dogs scare the wildlife and leave the trails mined with misfortune for later walkers.”

There have been similar challenges at the Marshlands Conservancy as well. Both Rye gems are part of the Westchester Park system.
