It was headed in this direction. But today Rye guy and County Boss George Latimer made it official. Rye Playland pool will remain closed for the summer 2020 season. “We will not be opening the Playland pool,” said Latimer at his daily COVID briefing.
The Playland pool is the only one of the five county pools to remain closed due to a NY State COVID-19 guideline that pools adjacent to beaches not open. Because of the closure, the county is looking at spending the summer renovating the pool. The renovation is already funded and is currently planned for next summer. “(We are) looking about how quickly we can go about the capital project,” said Latimer. “We hope that the fifth pool Playland will be able to open next year if all goes well.”
