On Tuesday evening, the Rye’sAbove butterfly auction at the Wainwright House raised $29,420 to benefit the scholarship and educational programs of the Rye Rotary and the Rye Arts Center.
The 36 butterflies, that spend the summer adorning the village green and various Purchase Street storefronts, garnered more than 400 bids. The highest bid was $4,500 for “Beautiful Beginning” by Artist Terry Taylor. Take a final look at these art pieces before they flutter into various private yards and homes.
