The rest of the results are in in the wake of the Rye Varsity Ski team’s final race this past Tuesday, and seven of its skiers are headed to the Sectional Championships at Hunter this coming Wednesday.
Cassidy Pagen, Charlotte Derman and Thea Fairhurst all qualified for the girls. Max Weber, Justin Gray, Drew Pagen and Lukas Steinmann qualified for the boys. Carsten Steinmann is listed as the 3rd alternate, who would slide into the competition should a few racers in the league be unable to ski. The skiers will also be qualifying for the NY State Championships later this month.
“Our team has really come together starting from the very first dry land practice back in November,” said Rye Ski Coach Jeff Steinmann. “The camaraderie they all have for each other has been really fun to watch even though it can get a little loud on the bus. Both Coach Gray and I are excited for the future of this team especially since we have no seniors and have a very deep bench of great skiers that will continue push each other for many years to come.”
