Rye Girls Varsity Field Hockey found itself in a stare down Thursday with Lakeland, ending the away game with a 2-2 tie.

“I was so proud of our girls today,” said Rye Girls Varsity Field Hockey Coach Kelly Vegliante. “They made the necessary adjustments and fought till the very end putting in the tying goal with seconds left on the clock. We played our game and weren’t intimated by Lakelands big ball game. Positioning Was spot on and both goals were a team effort by all the forwards. Lakeland senior goalie is phenomenal. To work the ball and get around their goalie was a great accomplishment by our forwards. It was a fun game to play. Two great teams giving it their all.”

The team’s record stands 3-1-1. The Garnets host Nanuet Monday at 4:30pm.
