On Wednesday night, Milton Elementary celebrated its 56 graduating fifth graders as they finished their journey at Milton. Held at the Milton auditorium, the Lions were able to celebrate not only their accomplishments in the years they have spent at Milton, but also their enrollment into middle school in September.
Milton principal Annemarie Piekarski opened up the ceremony with a greeting towards family and friends, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, read by fifth grader Charles Schaupp. Jane Anderson, president of the Board of Education, addressed the graduates, and was succeeded by a student speaker, Sascha Paul, who remarked on her time at Milton.
As they received their certificates, the fifth graders were met with the four fifth grade teachers Thomas Bailey, Jacquelyne Benfari, Christa Agostino and Tara Taddeo.
Following the presentation of certificates, a student poem was read by Luke Scarperi and Parker McGill. The evening ended with a performance of the Milton Song, “The Blue and Gold.”
