Moving from Rye, New York to La Jolla in 1954, Sallie’s varied interests included Scripps Memorial Hospital, where she served on their Board of Directors, and La Jolla Country Day School, where she used her talents by playing piano for many student musicals. She was a member of Torrey Pines Christian Church, and in her later life enjoyed learning to play the organ and composing music. She also had a passion for needlepoint and gifted her friends with many intricate homemade creations.
She is survived by her two daughters, one son-in-law, three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Trumbull.
A memorial service will be held at the White Sands, 7450 Olivetas St. in La Jolla, at a time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sallie’s name to Smile Train, The Special Olympics, or Doctors Without Borders.
