UPDATED, Saturday 8/5 at 1:00pm: The original WCBS-TV report was misreported, according to a Playland spokesperson. Playland says there were no injuries whatsoever and it was only the last train car of the Playland Express Kiddyland ride that went off the tracks.
There has been a second mishap at Rye Playland. On Sunday, July 23rd the Music Express ride at Playland moved backwards without stopping for 10 minutes. That ride was closed for repairs. Park officials told MyRye.com on Friday, July 28 they anticipated re-opening the Music Express ride this week.
Then on Thursday, August 3rd around 4:00pm the Playland Express train in the Kiddyland area jumped its tracks. WCBS-TV reported the incident and said according to “emergency officials” no children were hurt but two workers were treated for minor injuries.
