Rye Girls Varsity Soccer took the wind out of the Hendrick Hudson Sailors on Tuesday with a 5 – 0 win at home.
After a forty minute delayed start due to thunderstorms, the Garnets were off to a dominating start just after the kick off. Isabelle Harvey netted her first of three goals in the first four minutes of the game.
Freshman Charlotte Keenan set up Harvey’s first goal of the match with a perfectly weighted passes. For Harvey’s second goal, Charlotte beat two defenders and laid off another outstanding pass that Harvey tucked perfectly into the back corner of the net. Senior captain Maddy Walsh was able to connect a through ball for Isabelle’s third goal. Before the end of the half, Paige Vanneck would find the back if the net from a shot twenty five yards out.
The Garnets final goal came from freshman Shira Rand who hit a one time shot in the lower corner of the net. Tessa Labowitz had five saves to per serve the clean sheet.
